La Bravade de Saint-Tropez 2025: 16 to 18 May 2025
Immerse yourself in Provençal traditions
Every year, on May 16, 17 and 18, the streets of Saint-Tropez resound to the sound of fifes, drums, bugles and traditional songs. The Bravade is a vibrant tribute to the town's military history and the unshakeable faith of the people of Saint-Tropez in their Patron Saint.
A tradition steeped in history.
The origins of this festival date back to 68 AD, when Saint Tropez, a Roman officer who had converted to Christianity, refused to renounce his faith in front of Emperor Nero. Beheaded, his body was placed in a boat with a rooster and a dog - symbols of derision - and thrown into the Arno River. Carried by the currents, he washed up on the shores of what was to become Saint-Tropez.
At the end of the 15th century, the town was rebuilt and entrusted to new inhabitants charged with its defence. These soldier-citizens took up the habit of honouring their Saint every May 17 - a ritual that has been continued to this day.

For three days, the town is decked out in the colors of yesteryear.
